Previously, Shadow and his gang braved a inhabited Swamp full of crazy people, defeated Jierdan Firkraag of Windspear Hills, and not only quelled a corrupted druid grove, but also stopped a group of djinni from forcing Trademeet into economic collapse. With enough experience, reputation and powerful items on standby, the group made sought out the hidden vampire base lying underneath the Graveyard District. Unfortunately their leader Bodhi, spoke her piece about Shadow's mysterious value and fled, but it didn't matter, for the Order of the Most Radiant Heart kept their end of the deal and hired a man by the name of Saemon Havarian. They traveled to Brynnlaw, home to pirates of all sorts and home to Spellhold, an 'institution for the magically deviant' and where both Imoen and Irenicus are held. Will Shadow be able to rescue Imoen in time, or will Irenicus be one step closer to his goal with Shadow running right into where he wants him to be?
