Barbie: Vacation Adventure is an unreleased adventure sports video game that takes Barbie on an educational field trip across the United States.
The game would have been a commercial success; Software Creations made around £10,000 in profit, according to founder Richard Kay. Paul Tonge composed the music for the Super NES version.
Gameplay
The game is played using a side scrolling view similar to most platform games.
In Wyoming, Barbie spends time camping. In her California home, she hangs out in her apartment building every day. In Iowa, she went to a local carnival to help find a runaway pig. In Florida, she went to the beach to play volleyball and dive. In Texas, Barbie plays with horseshoes. Barbie also has the opportunity to ride three different types of horses while enjoying the beauty of Wyoming; each horse offers up to 23 frames of animation.
This game should be part of the Sega Club collection; it's designed for younger players. For most of her travels, she travels with her best friend Mitch Hadley, who is the second player in the two-player game.
Reception
Reviewing the Genesis version, GamePro commented that the graphics and sound effects are below average, but that the game is fun and educational for younger gamers.
