Battlefield Hardline Stealth Gameplay Shows Arrests, Tasering
1,790Battlefield Hardline shifts the series away from a military setting, instead throwing you into the war on crime as Miami cop Nick Mendoza. Discover how much of a difference this makes to the Battlefield experience with some new gameplay footage from two single-player missions.
The first mission we played was surprising for its stealthiness. Enemies have meters over their head that gradually fill as they become aware of you, letting you know when you need to get out of sight. Look for their cones of vision in the minimap, another stealth staple, in the gameplay video above.
You can also throw coins to distract enemies, separating groups to take targets out one by one. Mendoza presumably carries a casino-style bucket of quarters for this purpose.
Being a legit policeman, you can also arrest enemies; the left bumper in the mission above is your 'freeze' button, which makes you to flash your legit police badge, which should be enough to get enemies to surrender. Someone will be along later to read you your rights.
If there's more than one perp, however, you must keep your weapon trained on them to maintain control, switching between targets to stop situation getting out of hand.
It's not all sneaking and arresting; in another mission we played, also featured in the video above, you scope out a heavily guarded apartment building, using your police scanner to tag enemies and eavesdrop on conversations, then zip line in through a window, guns blazing. It is still a Battlefield game, after all.
