ring, ding, dong! who's there? it's another bauhaus map, inexplicably scored with a midi rendition of "keep their heads ringin'" by dr. dre.

in any case this is a much larger and more elaborate map than the first one. there's a ton of switches that need to get hit and they often have somewhat unpredictable effects. for example the first switch reveals some shotgunners, then lowers bars to your left on a delay to access a shotgun. ultimately the correct path is to hit the switch and run back to the start. allowing safe access to the shotgun from the other side. this part of the level definitely has a bit of a sense of humor, like with the blue key having bars drop in front of it on approach, or a light pole that blocks access to the super shotgun politely moving out of the way when you get close.

pretty quickly you get out of the basement area and into a proper house area. this is a lot more dangerous as there are lots of big, airy rooms and open sightlines for monsters, and the entire outside cliffs are pretty heavily infested. i get kind of wrecked by a chaingunner early on and spend a large chunk of the rest of the level inches from death. this was my second successful run through here and mostly it helped to know where the switches are, although i did get somewhat turned around a few times still. the exit is guarded by a decent number of monsters, including a spider mastermind that makes approach difficult. unless it gets stuck on an arachnotron. then it's a lot more manageable.
