oof. i think this level caught me off guard with how painful it was, even thought it stuck out pretty prominently in my memory from my first playthrough. for starters there's a pretty tough weapon collection situation. the super shotgun, especially, is in an incredibly awkward position. and unless wrangling a bunch of revenants with the pump action is your idea of a good time, you're going to want that. there are a few different ways down to the room that has it, but no easy way to get back out until the room's clear enough to hit a couple of switches. oh and there's an archvile watching over the whole room, with a lake of fire protecting it from any super shotgunning you might have wanted to do. but with the super shotgun and chaingun in hand it's a lot easier to make it to the rocket launcher and bfg and finish it off. the yellow key area is pretty spicy in a more standard way, although without the bfg in hand it's very easy to get pinned and ripped to shredds. then... the computer area section. there's lot of hitscan, sure, but that's not the worst bit. the worst bit is the really excessive switch-hitting, backtracking, and elevator riding. it's such a small seeming puzzle that requires really outsized effort. from there you finally discover what's hidden in the dungeon, which is... one lonely spider mastermind that can't do much. a level i was more than happy to be done with.
