Bee Simulator And 8 Other Games You Missed At Gamescom 2018
Gamescom was rammed with juicy games, but some hidden gems manage to pass us by. Noa gathers nine hidden gems you might have missed at Gamescom 2018 - ranging from Bee Simulator to a game about a dancing Grim Reaper and not one, but two ghost ships.
A game like Bee Simulator does exactly what it says on the buzzing tin, but not all of the best games you missed at Gamescom are easy to describe. Take Etherborn, a dreamy 3D platformer where gravity realigns to wherever you land, changing the entire rules of the landscape with every touch. Or how about Night Call, where you juggle life as a taxi driver and crimefighter, hunting a serial killer as you also try to earn a decent wage from the oddballs who hop in your cab.
If you’d rather make deaths happen then solve them then Gamescom has you covered with Felix The Reaper, where a grooving grim reaper sets up Final Destination-style takedowns for a series of victims. Or maybe you’ll become a victim yourself in The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, which is the first episode in a new horror anthology series from the makers of Unto Dawn. I don’t know what’s scarier: exploring a ghost ship or seeing such an overreliance on Quick Time Events.
Speaking of Ghost Ships, there’s another in Close To The Sun, which is a very Bioshock-y tale set in a giant ship built by Tesla. It looks neat. If you’d rather be a mad inventor than try to escape one, try Good Company, a management game that sees you evolve a tiny garage-based robotics business into a vast corporation. There’s also Ary and the Secret of Seasons, which is very colourful and nice, and a nice remedy to all the horribleness elsewhere in this list.
Of course, these are but a fraction of the games at Gamescom 2018 - we call them the best, but they’re the best we’ve seen. We’d love to hear your suggestions of what you think we should be hunting down to cover more in depth on the channel. There are heaps of hidden gems waiting to be un-hidden, so let’s work on this together. And do subscribe to the channel to make sure you don’t miss any of this good stuff when we do get round to it.
