BladeRunner the Video Game (1997) - First 45 Minutes Point and Click Game
This was one of the first games I ever bought - which if you knew me makes perfect sense. My favourite movie (one of a small handful) was / is Bladerunner, so when I saw a game based on the movie (loosely) that featured music from the movie, well, I was hooked.
The problem is, since it was back when i was super - new to computer gaming, it took too long to figure out, and when i got stuck, I didn't have the internet at my fingertips the way we do now, so I remained stuck, and never got very far in the game.
Fast forward 23 years - remember, I'm old - and I managed to find the game on GOG.com - DRM free, works on Windows 10, and while very blocky and low-resolution, still quite playable.
This game uses the same kind of rendering as the first Resident Evil games (and others from the same time period I'm sure) where the back ground is (usually) static and the only rendered things are people and objects relative to the story. This game used DirectX 5, and if i recall correctly, didn't need a dedicated 3D card to run. However, since I am not a game programmer I'll stop there and not pretend that I know more than I do.
I played for 45 minutes, it was enjoyable, but, being a point-and-click style game, it's not super fast paced. It's more about exploring the world around you and interacting with different people and objects.
I do recommend it if you're looking for a mostly story based game with some light action. , and if you're old like me (or an old soul), you may very well take comfort in a game that isn't just about shooting and racking up trophies (cuz there are none in this game).
Thanks for watching - if you want to see more of Bladerunner the Game, let me know and I will carry on.
