Another first-person shooter has been brought to the Amiga, it seems!

Two old Apogee Software (now 3D Realms) classics, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold and its sequel, Planet Strike, have had their source code repositories released under the GPL in 2013, and although it's taken a while, source ports are beginning to show up. Naturally, this also means that platforms that originally didn't get either game (they were both DOS only) are now starting to see ports arrive, like the Amiga!

So here's a quick demonstration of the Planet Strike source port to the Amiga, running on an emulated Amiga 4000 running AmigaOS 3.9 via FS-UAE in Debian GNU/Linux. I've only played the first level just to give you a taste of what to expect.

Granted, these ports right now aren't perfect by any means (watch the video and spot the odd bug here and there!), but they're very promising and I'm certain will get quite a lot of polish in the coming days. And yes, the AdLib sound effects sound waaaaaayyy off; the conversion of them is hardly perfect. But at least it's something.

The source port is available on Aminet: http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/bsps

Please support 3D Realms by buying Planet Strike from them (as you'll need to; you need the original data files to play!): https://3drealms.com/catalog/planet-strike_21/
