Blamdown: Udder Fury is a twin-stick shooter. It’s basically survival mode and all you do is cause chaos. Think Just Cause 2 but with a cow instead of Rico and top down instead of third person. Game is very fun if you want to just sit back and relax as it doesn’t take itself too seriously. You have regular campaign with story and a survival mode.

Graphics:

Blamdown: Udder Fury’s graphics are decent. They’re nothing too special but sort of pleasing to the eyes. It has those blocky type textures and from a top down view they look pretty neat. The environment is fully destructible and the maps are pretty big for a top down shooter. In addition to that you get these comic book type words like “Blam”, “Kaboom” and other such words, these look very good as well. There were no problems in FPS and the game played very smoothly. There were a few graphical glitches but then again the game is in Early Access, so hopefully those will be sorted out eventually.

Sound:

There are only two soundtracks available at this time. They both sound pretty nice and have cheery music. Though a bit more variety wouldn’t hurt. The sound of guns and the enemy tanks etc. are also okay. Sound can be improved by adding more soundtracks.

Gameplay:

The story mode has several missions. You’re out to take revenge from the evil farmer who has killed and made burgers out of your lover, Rosa. The Campaign has you go to different states. Missions involve mostly shoot stuff, pressing buttons to activate stuff, hacking doors, killing enemies and cause chaos. There are boss battles too e.g. the first boss battle is a guy in wheel chair in a hamburger factory and there’s meat grinders everywhere.

Survival mode has you play a cow who is out to cause chaos. You have a main weapon which is a gun (a laser in ball shooter? In the ‘LastVulture’ level) and a bazooka both of which have unlimited ammo. Other than reloading you can keep firing forever. The bazooka has a cool down meter which you can see around the cow. You can shoot buildings, lamp posts, traffic lights, innocent people, cars etc. Every object you destroy nets you points. Basically you can shoot everything in a map and destroy it to earn points which also raises your chaos level. You can also jump and double jump in this game. Jumping can be used to climb on top of buildings or shoot down soldiers with jetpacks. In addition to that you also have a dash ability which you can use frequently, just like the bazooka it also has a cool-down so you can’t just spam dash all the time.

In Survival mode with each increment of chaos level, new and more aggressive enemies start spawning. The early level enemies are guys in vans trying to catch you with nets but as you progress, tanks, jetpack soldiers with bazookas, soldiers with guns etc. start to chase you around the map.

The first time you gain a chaos level you get an upgrade such as no reloading, health regeneration over time, faster bazooka cool downs etc. The second time you level up you must choose an upgrade for the enemy side, they include upgrades such as jetpack soldiers, harder tanks, laser gun soldiers etc. The process repeats itself like this for every level.

A short video of the survival mode can be found below:

Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Overall: 8/10

Conclusion:

Very fun casual top down shooter. This will be a pretty good stress relief game in my opinion. The story is kind of dark and hilarious. The graphics are neat and soundtrack is also pretty good. The price is very reasonable as well. Definitely check this game out.
