Today’s episode went absolutely crazy with everything, so let us talk about it. In the previous episodes, if the defeat of Barro felt easy and rushed, then it was because he was not defeated at all. Here, we see how Barro further evolves into a grotesque creature and completely prepares to obliterate not only Shunsui but also anyone in the vicinity. It is apparent that Barro is way stronger than Shunsui, and he has also mortally injured him.
We also get a clear understanding of Shunsui’s past, which involves his lieutenant, Nanao. Apparently, Shunsui is her uncle, who had a close relationship with his brother and his wife. After his brother died, Nanao’s mother blamed it on herself and gave something of utter importance to Shunsui so that this kind of tragedy never happened again. It is also a reason why Nanao had to grow up without knowing anything about her uncle and without a Zanpakuto.
This episode clearly focuses on Nanao and her ability that we have never seen before. All these years, she thought that her talent lies only with Kido spells and not with a sword. But here, we see that that’s not true, and she indeed has her own powers that make her almost a God Slayer. In such a circumstance, she is the only one who can go toe to toe with Barro, the messenger of God.
