Blow: Spline Based Drift Mechanics Test Footage
After months and months of development spanning back to 2023, I have successfully created a Spline based drift mechanic for my game. There is still so much work to do, but I have the system in place and working as they should. There will still need to be a lot of fixes, but the basic principle is there. Things to be fixed would be the friction or sideways drag, changing inputs for bools, and changing how the forces are directed. Right now I'm pressing 2 buttons to make this work, it's jank I know. But this is such a huge deal, OMG. I did it bros! I fricken did it! Also I added drift sounds so you can hear when the system is working, only lays when the car is in drift state.
