For as long as I can remember, movies and TV have been telling me that robots are evil and are coming to kill me. Not fun. Not too surprisingly, AI has been applied to all aspects of our lives, including games. Let's talk about what that means for gaming, gamers, and the field of AI.

Virtually ever since machines were able to be programmed, people have been working to make them play games. I've talked a bit about the topic in the past, with more and more board games going digital, but I wanted to dive a bit deeper into the topic. AI is leveraged for a lot of reasons in gaming, from the general logic of so-called game theory to testing the efficiency of new AI algorithms, as games provide a useful, well-definable set of rules that the machine can follow to try and win. In doing so, we've found games that can be solved perfectly, taken the gaming experience from the table to the screen, and more. I wanted to briefly discuss my thoughts on what AI means for the board gaming community, as well as how it gets implemented, along with some of my own thoughts on the good/bad perspective.

As always, I really want to know what YOU all think about the topic, and why! What're your thoughts/concerns about opening up gaming to AI systems, and is it a good think to utilize games to generate more complex AIs? Let me know in the comments!
