It's time for a very important discussion on the world of board gaming here - gatekeeping. This is the idea of judging/dismissing/other negative connotation towards someone else based on their choices. We should be an awesome, welcoming community for anyone. Let's do it right!

We see gatekeeping in a lot of aspects in modern-day life, including all manner of interests, hobbies, even the workplace. In essence, it's the idea of telling someone that they aren't good enough to be a "true" fan, gamer, or other arbitrary title, based on some ill-contrived criteria. Regardless of the context, this can significantly affect how new people in particular interact with and integrate into the group(s). More established folks should really focus on making sure that anyone feels welcome in the community, regardless of their personal tastes. By the same token, it's good if new people are open to new ideas and possibilities that can be introduced by other folks. It's not a small issue, and desperately needs to be addressed.
