Yay another debug video, I'm getting good at these. :)

This took FOREVER to get accomplished. Firstly, I had a problem with getting the game to run in Dolphin-Emu, requiring me to go back to R4727 where it worked last in order to play the game. Then I had to go through the hassle of configuration the controls over and over because I wasn't sure how to even operate the debug, and then of course I ran into FPS problems while recording. But you know, if this all works out, this should be my first 1080p video, yay (and if it isn't, don't yell at me).

So now that I got that out of my system, let's talk about this debug. It might be surprising to note that this debug is actually similar to the one that Grandia 2 has. Why? Because Kazuhiro Irie (main programmer) worked on both projects! And because he was so generous to me for Grandia 2, he made it easier to load up the debugger in this game as well. That's right, all it takes is to modify the values to "activate" the debug, "initialize" the debug, and configure which controller you'd like to use the debug with (by default, it's the second controller - but as you can see, I changed it to use the first controller, kinda stupid on my part). You can even unlock all the maps, change which screen boots up at start up, and even become invincible!

To activate, what I did was first extract the sys folder inside the game, and opened system.ini. I then changed the debug initialize and activate settings from 0 to 1 (unlike OFF to ON, which pissed me off). You can open normal.ini to activate the invincibility and all map settings, but it kinda doesn't matter because you can do all that within the debugger anyway. I finally used GC-Tool to replace the system/normal.ini with their modified versions and loaded up the game in Dolphin and wha-la!~

This is where I got lost. You see, this debug will only work for cutscenes and in game maps, no title/menu screens. To use, you have to hold down the Y button on the controller you set up in the system.ini file and use the d-pad to highlight what you want. You can change "pages" with whatever you highlighted with the L/R triggers, and modify and variables with the dpad. To initialize, I think you can use the A button, but make sure to keep pressing the Y button as well. You can also no-clip to move about the map by holding some button down, but I could never figure out which one did it.

There's probably a second page of more debug stuff that I forgot but I was already getting confused by going through the "first page" if there is. In short, it's like Grandia 2's debug in many aspects and settings, so if you're familiar with it (and if you're not, go see my Grandia 2 debug video then) you should be fine. Overall, this game is pretty fun, and it definitely gets better with the debug stuff on.

But anyway, that's all for now. I'm not sure if I can push out another debugger video soon, since I'm kinda out of idea for games that have known debugs but haven't been recorded yet. I know Pikmin has a debugger, and so does Luigi's Mansion (but no code was created yet for this game) - so maybe I'll figure out something eventually. :)

Until then, SMELL YA LATER CHUMPS.

This video was recorded using FRAPS with Dolphin R4727 x64 with the DirectX9 plugin at 1280x1020. The video was then appended with VirtuaDub and converted to MKV/H.264 with SUPER's x264 encoder.
