So, not quite sure what to call this video. Reaction? Breakdown? Random thoughts Vlog? Whatever it is, lets talk Borderlands!

Gearbox conspired with Tiny Tina and dropped a bomb on us this morning. Borderlands 2 VR! It is unfortunately a PSVR exclusive and for some reason doesn't include multiplayer... But I've got a whole host of other questions after watching the trailer which I go over.

The highlights are:

Are we going to have full body avatars?
Not sold on the crosshairs.
Are scopes functional?
Smooth locomotion appears to be in with the move controllers. I was a bit worried when the press release only explicitly stated teleport and and "direct movement style with joysticks."
Driving is going to be first person this time and we control the turret by looking at it. This feels like it limits you a bit but will probably work out well.
UI looks smooth and intuitive.
One of my big questions. Why BAMF? Why did Borderlands need VATS/Bullettime? Do we really need to slow down the gameplay?
We can see that melee damage is still in the game. How is this going to work? Just hit people with our weapon? Hit people with our off hand? Some characters had animations for this, some weapons had bayonets. I wonder how melee focused builds will play out here.
We don't actually see anyone pick anything up. I want to see how looting works. How much of a pita is it going to be? Since they didn't show it I have to assume significant.

There have been a lot of criticism about the lack of Aim support. Salvadors action skill, coupled with the driving and maybe melee(???), I think is one of the problems that prevented easily supporting the aim controller.

I really hope we aren't fighting tracking here. Vive version when?

The weapons were designed for the characters to have two hands on them. Did Gearbox go back and add snap points in the appropriate places or were they lazy and we're one handing everything? This could cause drama. Shortcuts don't make for good games.

This also brings up reloading... Will we press a button to reload or will we manually reload weapons. I have a feeling it's going to follow suit with FO4VR and just have push-button reloading. The guns are too varied and having manual reload would invalidate guns with reload speed increases.

So how will we activate abilities? Push button? Will there be any sort of animation? What's shown isn't with the move controllers and that worries me.

So my preorder is guaranteed. That's a given. I am afraid that some corners were cut and this may end up getting the same mixed reception that Fallout did for some of the same reasons. That's unfortunate but the more I think about the problems faced with porting this game over the more I can rationalize it in my head as to why certain decisions may have been made.

Ultimately it will come down to how fun the game is at launch.

Between BAMF and no MP, I'm not sure if the Borderlands formula of over the top action with your friends is going to translate as well as we'd like. It's a solid game. I'm stocked to have it in VR. I really wish it wasn't exclusive to PSVR and I really hope that's a timed thing.

Honestly the lack of multiplayer is probably going to be the loudest criticism we hear.

Who knew I could take a 1 minute trailer and rant about it for 30 minutes. Did not expect this when the idea came to me. Let me know what you think of this type of video and if you do or do not want to see more of them.
