Cheapest way to get these games on the Switch
I'm sure if you're reading this you're more interested to know if this is good value for your money than to be informed about the Borderlands franchise.
In case of the former: yes, absolutely. You get three amazing games for the lowest possible price in this console (even on sale they have yet to go lower than $20 and this one at the moment costs $15). It's an INSANE amount of value for your money. Each one of these games has a lot of content by themselves (and to clarify, these are the GOTY versions of the games, with all the DLC included), let alone the entire trilogy. You will be entertained for weeks and even months.
In case of the latter, the Borderlands games are looter-shooters. Basicall FPSs that work a bit like the Diablo games, with procedurally generated loot that you get by killing enemies, completing missions or exploring. The randomized nature of the loot makes constantly hunting for better weapons quite addictive. Each game lets you choose between a bunch of characters, all with their specialized strenghts, weaknesses and special abilities. All of this gives the game immense replay value.
In terms of gameplay and story the second game is the best in the series. In graphics they all mostly look the same. The stylized art direction makes them all look great anyway.
The games can be played solo or cooperatively with friends. I am not sure if you have to start a campaign together or your friends can join at any time, or if both need a copy of the game and separate consoles or you can play both in the same one. I tend to play alone, but it's nice to have the option.
The games run fantastic on the Switch, and they thankfully come with the option to use gyroscopic aiming for better precision (though if you don't want it you can keep it turned off).
