Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Part 41: A Small Malfunction
In order for me to talk about the things that I want to talk about, I have to head off into spoiler territory so, if you haven’t played this game/don’t want to be spoiled, you should stop reading here. So, after building the very first constructor, we then have to move over Felicity’s AI into the machine but, as the title indicates, it doesn’t go all too well. Felicity doesn’t want to lose her memories and hates killing people so instead, she asks us to copy her AI and then place that within the machine so she can retain her normal self. According to her though, it would take a couple of days to do so, days which we don’t really have left so Jack orders us to shove her AI within the computer and force this conversion. It is rather sad to see this character slowly die and change into the Constructors from the second game but, we’ve barely known her. As sad it is, you do kind of see it coming from the second she was disgusted with killing the bandits. Speaking of which, she is a combat-based AI that hates combat which is really interesting but, because she goes rogue and we have to kill her, we never really get to much into why she would act like that. After picking her up off the ship, she really hasn’t been to prevalent within the game with the exception of leading us to here and talking to us every now and then. I think if they gave her some quest lines and this shocking reveal (the fact Jack basically murders her to create the army) was a little later in the game, then maybe it would be a nice twist like when Roland died in the Second game. The other thing that pisses me off is that, once we have the robot army and are ready to go off to the Hyperion Base, the robot army seems to be completely missing which makes you wonder why we needed to kill Felicity in the first place. I’m beginning to notice that this game likes to introduce a couple of interesting characters and then ends up murdering them because “Jack is Evil” which makes me less interested in these characters since I can guess that they are going to die later down the road. Regardless of these spoilers, we also have a very bizarre side mission that literally confused the hell out of me. If you recall from the second game, there was a murder scene and we had the option to find out who killed the person. This mission is simpler to that except take out the really interesting murder-mystery aspect and instead just choose someone to shoot for the hell of shooting them.
