Bound By Flame played and recorded on Steam Deck [Captain] Part 11 The final concubine is down
0There is a lot of videos on YT with various games tested on Steam Deck. Most of them present the footage of the screen. In my case, I want to show the actual look of the game itself and how it performs when you have Steam game recording turned on.
This stretch of the game on the highest difficulty is painful... The difficulty spike is merciless, the AOE attack of the asscheek ladies is probably the most annoying thing in the whole game, add the number of enemies with ridiculous amount of health, lots of backtracking and you have a recipe for the most awful stretch of the game.
Everyone has their guilty pleasure - mine being wooden RPGs that provide mediocre visuals and stories, games that don't want to be anything more than just 20 hours of entertainment (or games that wanted to be a masterpiece but ended up as obscurity) - this is basically my taste when it comes to long winter evenings :P
Bound By Flame is no different - released on 9 May 2014, developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive, this game was just another generic fantasy RPG in the PS3/Xbox 360 era but to give it justice, especially from the perspective of modern triple/quadruple A productions that cost hundreds of millions of dollars - it is sometimes better to spend a few days with a solid 6 than with a far-fetched and disappointing 9.
The game is marked on Steam as "Playable" in terms of Steam Deck compatibility but it works just fine and out of the box, no additional tinkering is needed :)
The game is set to the highest possible difficulty level, which immediately shows one of the major flaws of the game - a clunky combat system.
NOTE: The recording presents the look of the actual internal resolution of the Steam Deck but to avoid merciless YT compression, I reencoded the video to 1440p.
