Bravely Default II - 151 - Chapter 4-21 - Boss: Vigintio the Arcanist (Hard)

The group--CONFRONTS!--Vigintio despite knowing that--HE!--is not living anymore.
Key Notes:
- Vigintio's battle theme is called "Shadows Cast by the Mighty; Swift Judgement." The theme, though, has different variations for the other Holograd generals.
Boss: Vigintio - HP: 50,589, then 37,932, and lastly 29,127 / Weakness: Light, Knives, Spears / Family: Undead
Counter: Physical Attacks (uses Comet), Magical Attacks (gains 1 BP)
- Counter-Savvy does NOT work against his counters, as they're all magical counters.
- Vigintio uses several big magic attacks as an Arcanist:
1) Comet can strike from 2 to 4 times on one target.
2) Electon is a spell that strikes his and your side with lightning and light.
3) Ardour instead strikes with water and fire, which he can absorb while hurting your party.
4) Darkga is a high dark spell that strikes one target or the whole team. Notably, the spell doesn't lose potency when he strikes everyone with it, as his job's speciality "All In" lets him do that.
5) Death does what it says on one target.
- If you bothered to get the Bastion, you can use Vallation to nullify some of his attacks. Otherwise, you can render him useless if you're lucky to inflict Silence on him, or weaken his output with magic debuffs.
- The thing about him is that he plays his undead role by coming back up twice, each time with about 22% less HP of his maximum. Hilariously, this counts as having fought him in a chain battle 3 times. Just keep going at it until some heavy accented alcoholic pulls out an extremely epic, daring stunt on him.
Arcanist
- Returning from the first Bravely Default, the Arcanist specializes in using dark spells while mixing them up with destructive ones that hit you as well.
- As you can tell right away, this job is friendly-fire incarnate, which can either be beneficial if you're prepared to exploit double magic barrages (the Bastion's Vallation can be paired with this) or screw you over something fierce. If you're not into that, then just use the dark spells.
- It's got mastery on staves.
- Its first speciality "All In" lets it hit all targets with spells that can target everyone without losing potency (If you all remember Epic-Group Cast, this is it), though the drawback is that it causes its targets to target it more often. In that case, consider having a Shieldmaster use Bodyguard on the Arcanist for easy protection.
- No, it doesn't turn you into a zombie.
- If you saved all the kingdoms, the last one you saved won't let you travel or even move out to check the kingdom during its aftermath. But if the last kingdom was Halcyonia, you can still explore its city (but not go east of it).
- Also, completing the third kingdom you save locks you into a linear path to Holograd.
- Furthermore, the scene that follows after saving a kingdom is different for each third kingdom you liberated...but the Travelogue won't register the other variations you didn't see.
