Building Confidence in Topics of Games User Research
This talk discusses a comprehensive overview of the games user research domain. This talk is specifically crafted for recent graduates, junior-weight researchers, and individuals seeking new employment in games user research (GUR). After this talk the viewers should feel more confident in discussing GUR-related job roles, having a solid grounding in domain-specific methods, key terminologies, roles, and foundational aspects of the GUR domain, toward forging their own opportunities and personal growth.

Sebastian Long, Player Research
Sebastian Long is a Games UX Researcher at Player Research, the award-winning games user research and analytics consultancy. Since 2012 Seb has contributed to hundreds of games across all platforms and genres, including best-loved games from Harry Potter, Sonic, Moshi Monsters, LEGO, LittleBigPlanet, FIFA, and many more. Seb is a BAFTA Member, Develop ‘30 Under 30’ award winner, GURSIG Steering Committee member, and runs the #gamesUR events in Europe.
Lanie Dixon, Ubisoft
Lanie Dixon is a User Researcher at Ubisoft Montreal. Prior to Ubisoft she was the Co-Founder and Director of User Research at Octothorpe game studio in Salt Lake City Utah. In addition to her work with Octothorpe, Lanie was one of the four game developers and business owners running the Utah Games Guild, a volunteer organization working to promote and support local indie game development in Utah. Lanie also a member of the steering committee for the GRUX-SIG.
