Stephen de Wijze is senior lecturer in political theory at the University of Manchester. His work is concerned with the interface between ethical constraints and effective political action. He publishes on the the problem of 'dirty hands' and the need for a 'political ethic' that recognises the particular difficulties inherent to this domain of social activity.
