Games got longer again, so I was only able to go through two of them this time. And it feels like we've gone backwards a bit with Capcom.

Carrier Air Wing: Not a bad game. This time it's side scrolling, instead of top-down. Nothing wrong with that at all. We've got three planes to choose from, though I'm not entirely sure what the difference was. I chose the balanced one, and did try one life as the ground one which did not do what I expected so I went right back to the balanced one. Power-ups are odd in this game. There's some you buy, which I mostly focused on getting extra life (fuel, that depletes on its own, booo), and shields. The power-ups just let you cycle between three weapon types. And in that way where the pick-up itself rotates colors, so you can accidently grab the wrong one. Not a fan overall. The game, however, wasn't too bad. Another good Capcom quarter eater. One were I would have happily put money in until I had won.

Varth: Operation Thunderstorm: This game, on the other hand, was back to some bad practices that turned me away. First, it's the power-up style that you actually do level up your weapons. And lose them when you die. The latter part's the stickler for me, because the game's very clearly tuned to having the power-ups active. Losing them hurts, a lot. In fact, it makes some bosses unkillable. Because that's the other really sore point for me. The enemies in this are absolute bullet sponges. They have 10x the hit points they should have. It takes FOREVER to bring anything down, even with a fully powers up, strongest single attack weapon - laser - strike. This game is a slog, not helped by the fact that continues put you back at the beginning of the level. Nope. Nope nope nope. Even with rewind, this game took way too long. Not a fan of this one at all. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
