Capcom vs. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 (Dreamcast Intro)
To think that 2001 was the year that SNK declared bankruptcy but you know what, maybe it was the crossover that they needed....they kinda reformed in 2002 (technically!).
Capcom vs. SNK 2 was released in the arcades in August 2001 worldwide with a Dreamcast and PS2 port a month later and the latter would have a Western release with the Sega's console dead in the West! Ports to the Gamecube and Xbox would follow in 2003 with the 'EO' (Easy Operation) title.
Changes were made to CVS2 such as the selection to have a 1 vs. 1 or 3 vs. 3 in Arcade Mode, Free Ratio System as there are no ratios for specific characters from CVS as now the player can select up to three characters and select the ratio from 1 to 4 depending on their preference, a 6-button layout based on the Street Fighter Alpha series and the improved Groove System as some styles resembled certain subsystems and gameplay mechanics from the respected franchises.
Most of the roster returned back from the first CVS but there was an exciting set of newcomers such as Maki (Final Fight 2), Chang and Choi (KOF' 94), Rolento (SFA), Yun (SF3) and Hibiki, (Last Blade 2), However, the ones that stood out for me is Kyosuke (Rival Schools), Rock Howard (Garou: Mark Of The Wolves, Eagle (Street Fighter) and Haohmaru (Samurai Showdown....that 'Flame of the Conqueror'!)
When it comes down to it, Capcom vs. SNK 2 is all round game which casual, veterans and fans can enjoy. Up to this day, some people actually want a digital re-release of CVS2 (Good convincing modern day Capcom on that one!) and it would be alright, don't get me wrong but with the way how game developers have been as of late.....best to leave it well alone and that's just my views on that!
Hope you enjoy the intro/video and stay tuned for more, warriors!
