Virtua Striker 3 Ver. 2002 is a update from the original Virtua Striker 3 which was on the Sega NAOMI 2 arcade hardware (possibly hinting towards a Dreamcast release at the time) but considering that Sega's console was dead in the water around the world, Virtua Striker 3 moved to the Nintendo's Triforce arcade hardware (a partnership of Sega, Nintendo and Namco along with a good Zelda nod!) with an update with V.S.2002 which led to a console port to the Gamecube in February 2002 (a few months before World Cup 2002).
The port in itself was decent was it was expanded with new modes such as Road to International Cup in which you worked your way into the international team (depending on your preference) and win the 'big one', Ranking mode in which you can unlock two hidden teams, Edit Mode to change any player in the game and a added feature being Member Change as at the end of each half (normal and Golden Goal), you can make substitutions.
Playing the original one was tricky but the Gamecube port was a very good one. Still colourful as always and fun to play. As I said before, it's a different alternative to the usual football video games so....have a go at it!
