From 1998 to 2000 and to be honest, Capcom went to the extreme when the VS. series went to 3 vs. 3.....some could call that a 'SNK' nod but...they were the first back in 1994.....hint, hint!

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was released in February 2000 in the arcades as the Dreamcast port would shortly follow a month later with Western releases in the summer of that year. PlayStation 2 and Xbox would receive a port in 2002 with the latter getting online play (Never understood why the West never got online play in the Dreamcast!) and PS3/X360 would get the same treatment in 2009 as that was based of the DC port rather than the NAOMI arcade port...very odd and there was glitches here and there!

MvsC2 would continue to use the Variable Assist from the previous games as it would be useful with healing moves or performing damage with projectile attacks to either the player or opponent. Along with that, assist characters can take damage when struck and when characters are not in use, their life gauge can slightly regenerate.

New additions would be added such as the Delayed Hyper Combo is when you perform the character's hyper combo attack and using the right button motion, you can perform the second character's attack and the same with the third and the Snapback which forces the player/opponent to switch characters! Interestingly enough, the button layout was changed from a 6-button layout of 3 Punches/Kicks to a 4 attack buttons and 2 assist buttons!

Characters in the game mostly consisted of the featured characters from the previous installments. However, more Darkstalkers characters were added to the roster. As for the newcomers, that was a unique choice. You have Cable from X-Force, Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, SonSon (the granddaughter to the protagonist of the 1984 arcade game of the same name), Ruby Heart who is a air pirate and Amingo, a cactus creature!

Looking back at it, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 still holds up to today's fighting game after 20 years! I had some battles on this game which were enjoyable to boot. At least, Capcom showed care to the Marvel properties back then and even had the voice overs from the cartoons which is a nice touch! That enough of me talking about it, have a go at it whether it's on console or emulated...you won't be disappointed!

Hope that you enjoyed the intro/video and stay tuned for more, 'true believers'!
