0Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse for the Game Gear and SMS is an excellent, well-rounded and simple platformer that was released on other platforms as well such as Sega Genesis/MD and Sega Saturn. Ordinarily, we don't lump GG/SMS games together, but there are no differences whatsoever between the two... it's stated they have the same exact source code. From what I played of both games on my SMS and GG, they had no apparent differences.
The wicked witch, Mizrabel, is jealous of Minnie's beauty and popularity, so she kidnaps her. Mickey naturally comes to the rescue and chases them to Mizrabel's "Castle of Illusion", where he must go through different realms to retrieve seven gems of the rainbow in order to defeat Mizrabel. The game consists primarily of lifting and throwing objects, jumping on enemies, and discovering secret items. At the end of levels are bosses who must be defeated with different strategies. Enjoy.
