Cavalcadence plays Cadence 11: Speed Demon! (All Zones Mode (formerly "Hardcore Mode"))


For anybody who's interested in custom Cadences (or other characters), the official NecroDancer FAQ has some info about creating custom characters, and even has a link to the pinned thread on the official forums, where people have posted some of their custom creations:

So... as some of you might know, I've been trying (off and on) for an 8-minute "speed run" for... more than a couple months now. Unsuccessfully. =p Until now. =)

Oh, and for anybody who hasn't been keeping up with the NecroDancer patch notes, among the many other changes and additions in Update #18, "Hardcore Mode" (HCM) was renamed "All Zones Mode" (AZM). IMO this is a good change, since I think this way it's a little clearer that AZM is perhaps the "intended" gameplay mode, and not just a more difficult challenge. Oh, and AZM also switched places with the Tutorial in the Lobby, probably to make it easier to get to AZM from the starting location. =)

Anyway...

I wasn't sure if Seeded AZM/HCM would work for the "Speed Demon" achievement ("Complete All Zones Mode with Cadence in under 8 minutes"), but recently, while playing AZM, I came across a seed that seemed promising (i.e. even though I didn't get to the end, I did make pretty good progress in pretty good time)... so I made note of the number and gave it a try in Seeded AZM. And after some more failures and a bit more practice, I discovered... Seeded AZM does indeed count for the achievement. =)

Anyway, this is the actual run where I finally earned the Speed Demon achievement. Enjoy! =)


The Zone 1 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Green Dragon, Gray Minotaur, Red Dragon, and Death Metal 1.

The Zone 2 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Gray Direbat, Red Dragon, Blood Nightmare, and Deep Blues 2.

The Zone 3 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were:
- Nightmare, Blue Dragon, Green Banshee, and King Conga 3.

7:10 Speed Demon! (The recording software I was using didn't record the Steam notification, but this is about when it appeared.)

One final note: The seed used for this run was: 667136. Do note, however, that Seeds do change each time the game gets a significant update (because new items, enemies, etc. have to be incorporated into the procedural building process), so if you want to try this Seed (or another Seed you've recently encountered), don't wait too long before playing it! =)
