For anybody who's interested in custom Cadences (or other characters), the official NecroDancer FAQ has some info about creating custom characters, and even has a link to the pinned thread on the official forums, where people have posted some of their custom creations:

So, there have been some Christmas graphics in the official "entities" folder in the game directory for quite a while, and I figured there was probably going to be an official Christmas scenario or Easter Egg or something at some point (and it turns out I was right; I'll leave a link to the official "Merry Cryptmas" mod near the bottom of this description, for anybody who's interested)... but the graphics were cute enough that I thought I'd try putting something together myself. =)

Christmas Cadence was pretty easy to apply, but I kind of also wanted to replace one of the bosses with Undead Santa. Because of the combination of size and animation frames, King Conga turned out to be the best choice. So I put some work into adapting King Conga with the Undead Santa graphics... and overall, I'm pretty happy with the results. =)


So then I started recording Zone 3. And I actually got lucky within my first few tries, and ended up with King Conga at the end of a 0-damage run! =) Unfortunately, when reviewing the video, I discovered that although it was a good run, it didn't really give a good view of Conga Claus during the boss battle (I fought most of the battle in the bottom half of the field)... and since Conga Claus was kind of the point of the video, I realized I'd have to adjust my Conga strategy to get the battle to the top half of the field, so we could get a better view of him. =p

So then I started re-recording Zone 3 (and as a side note, it was about at this point that Brace Yourself Games released the official "Cryptmas" mod). I didn't get quite as lucky as before (the RNG would often choose one of the other bosses, of course)... but I finally ended up with this Zone 3 run (in which I think I only took damage twice), which I'm pretty happy with. =)


The Zone 3 mini-bosses and boss I encountered during this run were: Blue Dragon, Gray Direbat, Green Banshee, and Conga Claus 3 (King Conga 3).


Some notes and possible points of interest:

0:08 Zone 3, Level 1
1:11 Mini-boss: Blue Dragon

1:43 I was trying to figure out a way to get the Barrel onto the Spiketrap (which is one way to open a Barrel) without getting damaged by the Hotcoal floor... but unfortunately, couldn't figure out a way (though now that I think about it, I probably should've tried attacking the Cauldron from the left (instead of the bottom) to see if the Longsword would've pushed the Barrel at the same time).
1:52 First coin multiplier lost, first damage taken (Goblin). Careless damage because I was still thinking about the Barrel and Spiketrap. =p
2:24 Mini-boss: Gray Direbat
3:53 Zone 3, Level 3
4:35 A Goblin teleports into the Shop from a Teleport Trap. =)
4:46 Mini-boss: Green Banshee
5:00 Zone 3, Boss: Conga Claus 3 (King Conga 3)
5:13 Second damage taken (Yeti). I forgot to account for the Gray Goblin when retreating from the Yeti's attack. =/
5:34 Santa Cadence defeats Conga Claus!
