So, Update 10.5 made some adjustments both to the wasps and to Vespula that, in combination (and almost certainly unintentionally) made that battle a lot harder than it was before. Fortunately, this was quickly noticed and quickly addressed, and in Update 10.6, the aggressiveness of both the wasps in general and the wasp drop patterns in the Vespula battle in specific were toned down a bit.

Which definitely seems to have helped. =) In 10.5, it took me quite a number of tries to even get close to my Starch score. But in 10.6, I actually managed to beat my Starch score... in a lot fewer tries! =)
