ROCN SS-791 海獅 "Hai Shih" (Sea Lion) was originally built in 1944 (yes, it's a WW2 boat) as the US Navy Tench-class diesel-electric submarine USS Cutlass. Sending it up against a relatively modern nuclear boat of the Chinese PLA Navy Type 091, originally launched in 1974, seems to be a bit... suicidal, even with the post-WW2 GUPPY II upgrade. But the right captain can make all the difference...
The year is 197x. ROC has received and refitted the sub, and as a shakedown cruise, it is being sent into the Formosa Strait for its ultimate challenge... A face-off with PLAN's latest... The Type 091, aka "Han" class nuclear submarine just launched. It is a (hypothetical) duel to the death...

Actual combat was a bit anti-climactic, as the Han never detected the Tench, thanks to the thermal layer and the whisper-quiet electric motor of the Tench and excellent noise discipline. The Han actually managed to evade the torpedoes multiple times, but eventually the two torpedoes pincered him and one was able to reacquire before he could pop another decoy.
Tench had to make absolutely sure there was no other hostile subs are around, which is why it took a couple more minutes before ending the scenario.
