(CCPlays) Genesis Alpha One (3 of ?): First New Weapon, "Hard" Planets, Module Upgrades, and more
In this episode of GAO, we explore more systems, got my avatar killed (which just means the next senior crew takes his place),
Welcome to Genesis Alpha One, where your survival, and humanity's survival, is all up to you.
We have been slowly but steadily leveling up the cloned crew members, most fo them have been upgraded to shotgun and minigun as their default weapons instead of a lowly pistol. However, I've yet to find resources to make the more advanced combat robots.
I have more DNA now so I just researched a few more aliens, but they aren't worth cloning, and I don't have sufficient air for them anyway. Right now the ship is 100% O2 only.
We landed on a planet where enemies just keep beaming in and we keep killing them. We got enough DNA and weapon parts to build the X-Ray Caster, i.e. an energy SMG. Of course, this is also where I got the captain killed. Forgot to drop off turrets to serve as additional self-protection.
I have found a module upgrade at one of the artifact sites. It's a module that can be added to a ship module to give it additional powers, and it depends on the module and which addition. Most modules have either a workstation upgrade (adds workstation to the module, thus allowing you to assign an extra crew member, increasing the processing speed) or alien detection upgrade (raises alarm and tracks alien movement nearby).
I am having some problems locating "Panels" to build a 2nd greenhouse so I can expand my crew. I have way too much framework, and I hope to trade that for something worthwhile.
My 4 commanders as hangar crew are sufficient to deal with intruders, esp. with 2-4 turrets backing them up. And they are quite competent in doing resource gathering on the planet as well. I only go down if I need to access an artifact site.
When I go down, always bring as many turrets as possible WITH me. Yes, sometimes they get abandoned, though I try not to (you can retrieve a turret easily). Drop one near the ramp, then drop a couple around you as you scan the artifact site. Grab them as you finish and there are no hostiles nearby.
