(CCPlays) Cold Waters Dot MOD | Y2K NATO Campaign | Part 1: Sub Hunting in Shallow Waters
1Welcome to another series in Captain Chang Plays (CCP), and we are in Cold Waters Campaign for the Year 2000 in the South China Sea: NATO vs China, when China decided to go militaristic in seizing Taiwan and the Spratly Islands. Shallow waters will be quite challenging, as is the advanced technology available to the Chinese. On the other hand, you do get the Seawolf class sub as well as late-flight Los Angeles class subs, advanced torpedoes, and so on. It will be interesting.
I, of course, would choose the USS Seawolf, SSN-21, based in Guam.

10-SEP-00 Priority Mission Received
Mission: Hunt down PLAN wolfpack west of Manila.
We transited just north of the Philippines into the South China Sea and set up just west of Manila in shallow waters, and intercepted possible subs to the south.
Sonar reported contacts to the south, but after extensive listening with towed array and getting NOTHING, we decided to go active, and quickly spotted multiple contacts to the south. We fired 3 tubes without verifying their types, as there are only hostiles in these waters. They turned out to be 1 Ming and 2 x Song subs. All were sunk. We fired so quickly that they never counter-fired.
These were the mission objective, and by sinking them, our priority mission was accomplished.
