Previously in this dotMod enhanced NATO 1984 Campaign...

We stopped the Soviet diesel-electric subs sneaking through the coastal waters near Norway.

We annihilated the Soviet Amphib force heading for Trondheim, Norway.

We destroyed Soviet at-sea replenishment group (tanker and supply ship)


My typical loadout for 688 in 1984 is no Harpoon, no TASM, no TLAM, just 4-5 MOSS decoys and the rest, Mk 48 Mod 4 ADCAP torpedoes. I usually load 3 torpedoes and 1 decoy in the tubes "just in case".

NOTE: The photo in the thumbnail and the badge was of the real USS Portsmouth SSN 707, which has been decommissioned for many many years by now. Consider this a tribute to her service, and to all those who served aboard her.

Mission: Patrol Norwegian coastal waters for Soviet diesel-electric subs trying to sneak through.

30-NOV-84 Setup in waters outside of Trondheim to intercept the diesel electric subs. Spotted 2 Tangos, killed them, only to spot a third one. Kill it too.

01-DEC-84 Received new mission

Mission: Destroy Yankee class SSBN and escorts transiting near Iceland.


02-DEC-84 Sank Victor I, Yankee

We encountered a Victor I which I let pass directly overhead by being a hole in the water. After it passed, we noticed a new contact behind it, which is the Yankee class old SSBN, which we killed along with the Victor. There was another escort nearby, but we can't seem to locate it after it faded. We let it go, as our primary mission is complete.

02-DEC-84 Received new mission

Locate enemy at-sea replenish group and destroy it, priority are tankers and tenders. Warships are secondary. The rendezvous point is northern Norwegian coast close to Murmansk.

03-DEC-84 Arrived at patrol area

Satellite intel indicated that target group is nearby, we shall prepare a reception for them...
