0Previously, in the Cold Waters (DotMod) Y2000 NATO campaign, we managed to finally exit the South China Sea and back to Guam for a full load of torpedoes, decoys, and 4 TASMs.
18-SEP-00 Priority Mission Received
Mission: Stop enemy submarines from dropping off Commandos at the Taiwan city of Kaohsiung, by destroying the subs.
Kaohsiung is on the western side of Taiwan.
Unfortunately, it seems that the attack occurred before we can get there. We got new orders before we were able get even CLOSE to the mission area.
20-SEP-00 Priority Mission Received
MISSION: Locate PLAN convoy of tanker and replenishment ship(s) and destroy it. Should be in East China Sea.
NOTE: East China Sea is located north of Taiwan.
We turned the ship north and stayed in deep waters east of Taiwan, THEN entered East China Sea.
21-SEP-00 We intercepted the PLAN replenishment convoy just as it left Ningbo.
We set up in front of the convoy and identified the key ship, the Fuqing, and 3 escorts: Jingwei, Luhu, and Jianghu3. We launched 4 torpedoes and evaded to the east. There is a maritime ASW plane in the air but it was no factor.
Jiangwei died first, followed by Fuqing, then Luhu, and finally, Jianghu3. However, it seems an ASW helo was getting quite close, and I had to run quite a bit further east to disengage.
