In this episode of GAO, we discuss good vs bad lichen, the fine art of exploring shipwrecks, and genesis initiation.

Welcome to Genesis Alpha One, where your survival, and humanity's survival, is all up to you.

As you explore further into Alpha One, you will be infected by a variety of spores, some of which will do its best to KILL your crew and use the body as fuel to spread, while others are actually mutually beneficial. Generally, you're looking for ones that have green "sparkles" above, over a round head on the ground. If you step into the sparkles, you'll be healed by about 50 hp. That's "Leven", the good lichen. Everybody else is at best, neutral, or bad.

And the best way to kill lichen is with a flamethrower.

We also try again with a different shipwreck, and found several of the modules have decompressed, and there's little left of the ship to explore, and it's so dangerous it's pointless for minimal potential gain. So we got back out of there. (Yes, you can bring up "ship view" (tab) if you are on a different ship)

Previously we lamented the discovery of a Genesis Planet with O2 atmosphere, but it's in a hazard zone full of cosmic spores. We chose to keep exploring. We will today, find no less than TWO genesis candidate planet, and we will actually initiate genesis on one of them...

Just to keep in mind, this is Genesis Level 1, what you do at the lower difficulty level. At higher difficulty levels you will be called upon to look for level 2 or even higher genesis levels, which means cloning a more advanced crew, which means you need to search out enemies to get more DNA fragments and more radiation blue to do the proper genetic research to unlock level 2 or level 3 clones.

And minigun is NOT a good weapon for the final fight. Though I belated realized, I should have aimed at those "glowing pockets" on the queen's back...
