-------------------------

Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, this time featuring the Mikanko archetype joined primarily by the Phantom Knight theme. The Mikanko theme revolves around its Equip Spells, while their Effect monsters gain effects while equipped. For example, Mikanko Water Arabesque can return the monster to which it is equipped to the hand and Special Summon a Mikanko monster from your hand or Deck to be equipped to instead. Then, if you summoned Ha-Re the Sword Mikanko or Hu-Li the Jewel Mikanko, you will get to tutor a Mikanko Equip Spell or Mikanko Trap Card, respectively. Additionally, each of the Main Deck monsters reflect all battle damage back to the opponent while equipped, punishing your opponent from leaving a strong monster undefended. As for the other Mikanko support cards, they are led by Ohime the Manifested Mikanko and Arahime the Manifested Mikanko, two Ritual Monsters that primarily are used for their effects in the hand or GY rather than when Ritual Summoned.

Moving along, this brings us to the second half of the strategy, incorporating elements of the Phantom Knight Burning Abyss strategy from competitive eras past. The Phantom Knight archetype consists of DARK Warriors that consistently provide access to multiple copies of Phantom Knights' Fog Blade, giving you even more control over a duel. Additionally, they're mostly Level 3 Warrior monsters, giving you access to both Cherubini, Ebon Angel of the Burning Abyss and Isolde, Twin Tales of the Noble Knights, both of which are some of the strongest LINK-2 monsters in the game. Either way, I personally love that all of the Level 3 monsters present in the strategy can also be used as Synchro Material, either for Cupid Pitch via Infernoble Knight - Renaud, then/or to Muddy Mudragon, as that allows you to make some fun Fusion Monsters that your opponent just might not expect. The new Gaia Prominence, the Kindling Seraph offers the ability to negate monster effects in the hand or GY, or the other option I'm running in here is Cyberse Clock Dragon, which can send even more cards to your GY to benefit from the GY effects of your Phantom Knights. Reinvent past hybrid strategies, now with the addition of the Mikanko!
