Welcome back for today's CDP, this time focused on highlighting the brand new Tistina TCG World Premiere archetype that debuted in DUNE. This archetype consists of Aqua monsters of various attributes, the most important being the Level 10 LIGHT Aqua Tistina monsters: Demigod of the Tistina and Crystal God Tistina. During your Main Phase, Crystal God Tistina can flip as many monsters your opponent controls face-down, then it sends all face-up cards that remain on their field to the GY. On the other hand, Demigod of the Tistina carries that effect during the opponent's turn, as long as you control Crystal God Tistina. However, Demigod also has an effect to Special Summon itself from the hand and tutor a Tistina card, giving you much needed consistency. Rounding out the monsters, Sentinel of the Tistina is the other consistency booster, letting you target and destroy a Tistina or any set card you control to tutor another Tistina card, and Hound of the Tistina lets all Tistina monsters attack directly while your opponent controls at least one set monster. These two supporting Tistina monsters also share an effect that lets them be Special Summoned from the hand or GY whenever you control a LIGHT Tistina monster. As for the rest of this new archetype, Breath of the Tistina gives you an additional Tistina Normal Summon each turn, as well as yet another effect to tutor a new Tistina card, and Divine Domain Baatistina can send 1 Tistina monster from your Deck to the GY, then Special Summon a Crystal God Tistina from your deck, if your opponent controls 3 or more face-up cards. In short, this theme as it exists in wave one, is all about hyper consistent ways to flip the opponent's board face-down, then go for game from there.
But as with most TCG World Premiere themes, this one wave of support is never enough to build a pure deck off the bat. Therefore, I'm turning to the Eldlich, Eldixir, and Golden Land archetypes to add a bit more off-turn interaction. Eldlich the Golden Lord leads this theme centered around Trap Monsters, or Continuous Traps that Special Summon themselves from your backrow. For this archetype, these Trap Monsters gain additional effects if summoned while you control the Golden Lord, such as Conquistador of the Golden Land, which can destroy a face-up card on the field. If you don't like sticking to the original Golden Lord, you can even use the effect of Seven Cities of the Golden Land to Fusion Summon Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord, which is a much beefier boss monster that can't be destroyed by battle or card effects, and carries an effect to steal your opponent's monsters. This hybrid strategy also gets help from another TCG World Premiere card, a new Level 10 Zombie monster named Finis Terre, Tower of the Necroworld, which can Special Summon itself from the hand whenever you control a Level 10 monster, such as either Eldlich or either LIGHT Tistina. With easy access to multiple Level 10s, this unlocks Rank 10 Xyz Summons as well, such as my favorite Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula, which enables easy OTKs with Tistina direct attacks via Hound of the Tistina. Shine with the crystal brilliance of the Golden Lord with the new Tistina archetype!
