Dang, under-supported Monster Types are really eating well right now, aren't they!? Today's CDP features the return of the Ogdoadic archetype, still enhanced with the help of the Reptilianne and Alien archetypes. This archetype of LIGHT and DARK Reptiles is all about coming back from the GY and insane combos, and they're receiving two new support cards in AGOV that keep that identity going strong. First up is Nefrabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord, a brand new Level 10 monster that can extend your plays by Special Summoning itself from your GY whenever another monster is sent from the hand or Deck to the GY. Once you do, it carries an effect to Special Summon any monster from your GY, but will typically be locked into Reptiles due to the restriction on its first effect. With this effect, Ogdoadic finally have a path to getting both Amunessia, the Ogdoadic Queen and Aron, the Ogdoadic King on the board without sacrificing the rest of your monsters - in fact, with the new combo lines, you can even end on both of these with a Cosmic Slicer Zer'oll, an Alien Monster, and a set Planet Pollutant Virus, the combination of which will prevent the opponent from making any momentum with monsters during their turn!
Now I said there were two new cards, and the second serves both a combo extender with the Reptiles you have and a combo extender for those you don't. Ogdoadic Dawn of Creation's first effect is to Tribute any Reptile and summon Tokens, 1 for every two Levels. This means that Tributing a Level 8 Ogdoadic, such as the Queen or King, leads to 4 Tokens, or in other words, a Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax summoned with I:P Masquerena. Plus, Dawn can be banished from your GY to shuffle a banished Reptile back into the deck, before sending a new Reptile from your Deck to the GY. This is the second in-theme Spell that allows for you to get Reptiles into the GY, behind Ogdoadic Water Lily, and combined with Snake Rain, you will be set for all the Snakes you need. To touch on the other key players in the build now, Sakitama is a great new addition that I've enjoyed testing. Not only does it serve as another Level 4 to Xyz Summon King of the Feral Imps more easily, but it also can be Tributed to Special Summon an Ogdoadic monster back from your GY, then return itself back to hand for reuse on the next turn. With all this Tributing comes the natural inclusion of Lair of Darkness, turning all of your monsters DARK and giving you just a bit more monsters to play with after a turn of heavy tributing. And finally, the Reptilianne continue to be a great way to extend your plays with even more Reptiles. The Dawn of a new Empire of Reptiles is here - Ogdoadics await your next move.
