The CentOS Project today announced the release of CentOS Linux 8.3, the third maintenance update to the latest CentOS Linux 8 operating system.

After six months of development, CentOS Linux 8.3 comes from the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.3 source code, which means it has many improvements, new features, bug fixes and security updates.

Among them, there is a new level of security settings, improved consistency and repeatability when encrypting, improved corporate network configuration and renewal of security certificates.

Additionally, CentOS Linux 8.3 facilitates the migration from CentOS Linux to CentOS Stream by implementing some changes to Yum repo, such as renaming some Yum repo files to /etc/yum.repos.d and updating repoids.

CentOS developers recommend that you compare any changes you make to your local / etc files, including .repo files, with .rpmnew generated before attempting to update your CentOS Linux 8.3 installation

In addition, you need to update the scripts you have to use –enablerepo = or –disablerepo = flags.

CentOS Linux 8.3 is available for download from the official website for 64-bit (x86_64), ARM64 (AArch64) and PowerPC (ppc64le) architectures.

However, these new images are only useful for new installations, so you do not have to download hundreds of updates from repositories after installation from an older ISO.

If you are already using CentOS Linux 8.2 or an earlier version (8.x), all you have to do is update your system and you will have the latest version.
