Linux Mint 20.1 Beta with Cinnamon 4.8.3 environment, Hypnotix and more was released.
Linux Mint 20 was announced in late January 2020, along with the release of LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) 4 based on Debian Linux, released on March 20.
The beta version of the next Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa operating system is now available for download before the final launch around the Christmas holiday.
WHAT'S NEW IN LINUX MINT 20.1 BETA
Yes. Linux Mint 20.1 Beta has just appeared on the main download servers of the popular Ubuntu-based distribution.
The Linux Mint 20.1 beta is based on Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (Focal Fossa) and comes with the Linux 5.4 kernel with long-term support by default.
As you know, the Linux Mint team released the Cinnamon 4.8 desktop environment about two weeks ago, so the biggest news is that the main Cinnamon edition of Linux Mint 20.1 beta comes with Cinnamon 4.8.3 by default.
If you are a fan of the Cinnamon desktop, then you will have many things to enjoy in the next release of Linux Mint 20.1.
Another interesting change is the inclusion of the new IPTV player application, called Hypnotix , which the Linux Mint developers viewed in their latest monthly newsletter , if you're curious about what it can do.
Finally, all packages have been updated from the Ubuntu 20.04.1 repositories. The MATE edition comes with MATE 1.24 and the Xfce edition with Xfce 4.14.
