Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Lock On for the Super Nintendo developed by Copya System and published by Vic Tokai.
When Super Air Diver was released here in North America, we were lucky enough to get a much cooler name. The only name better than Lock On would be Danger Zone. Released in 1993, Lock On is one of the Super Nintendo's most enjoyable flight games. Players take the role of Jake Steel, a pilot with fast planes, lots of missiles and a beef with the Russians. Doesn't get much cooler than that. Lock On boasts tight controls and fast-paced gameplay, bringing a more arcade-like feel to the genre of flight simulation. The game also uses the Super Nintendo's Mode 7 to create impressive speed and height effects, similar to games like Pilotwings and F-Zero. Lock On features eight levels and a handful of bonus levels, but the fun and addictive gameplay makes up for the game's brevity. Lock On is a single-player flight game.
This video review features video gameplay footage of Lock On for the Super Nintendo and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
