Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of TwinBee for Famicom Disk System developed and published by Konami.

TwinBee, along with Sega's Fantasy Zone, are widely considered the progenitors of the "Cute-'em-up" subgenre. Sure, mechanically, it's a standard vertical-scrolling SHMUP, with the occasional wrinkle like the power-ups being delivered by juggling bells by hitting them repeatedly, until they change color and convey bonuses like stronger weapons or trailing clone ships or speed boosts. But the "cute" element comes in the colorful presentation of the game itself, with abstract objects like radishes and what I believe to be toilet-seat covers firing shots at your TwinBee.

This video review features video gameplay footage of TwinBee for Famicom Disk System and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.
