So with the recent changes announced for monster statblocks, it has lead to some interesting discussion. While it shows that monsters will generally be receiving boosts/balancing to even out Challenge Rating while also allowing for more combat versatility, it may have lead to a shadow nerf of Counterspell. Quantifying certain "spells" as abilities removes the opportunity for them to be counterspelled. Will we see more of this in the future? Is this all to lead up to changes for 5.5e?
