In this video I take a look at DayZ* a zombie outbreak survival game.
So this game was just refused classification in Australia... ...why? I mean I understand games like Manhunter but this is just good clean zombie killing fun. Anyway, let's move on.
So the basic game play mechanic is to stay alive as long as possible. You can only carry so much but have access to items in the immediate surroundings when crafting. Basically it's more realistic. I did find the crafting mechanic to be a little hard to figure out. It's less forgiving than most survival game when it comes to resource collection as well.
Once you understand what the game expects of you it becomes a lot of fun. It's a more realistic zombie survival experience without guns becoming too hard to get. ;) .....Hmm, maybe America based? (sorry I couldn't help with the ribbing given the current state of affairs. Let's hope they change. Now back to the game...) It's actually based in a post-soviet country.
I didn't get much experience with other players though, I hope they don't ruin the experience like they do in Rust, but the base mechanics seemed fun and my predominately solo time was enjoyable.
