Here is a little about my brush calligraphy journey...
WHEN DID I FIRST START?
I first picked up a brush pen (Tombow dual brush) in September 2014. I took an in-person class with Phawnda Moore in Sacramento, California. In January 2015, I took an online pointed pen class with Melissa Esplin, and was hooked onto calligraphy.
WHY DO I LIKE BRUSH CALLIGRAPHY?
I love the ease with which brush pens can be used, transported, and stored. They come in a variety colors and types. Brush calligraphy is beautiful. It's truly an art. While I have enjoyed handwriting and all things handlettered growing up, brush calligraphy is the perfect fusion between lettering and elegant script that allows me to create beautiful pieces for enjoyment and teaching purposes.
HOW CAN YOU GET STARTED WITH BRUSH CALLIGRAPHY?
Great question! You first need a brush pen and some paper. I have a lot of recommendations and reviews on my blog (see links below). Then you'll want to first learn the basic strokes, and then slowly connecting practice letters and words. The key is to go slow, learn the letterforms and of course, practice!
