Chrono Trigger DS
Part 1: The Journey Begins
Do you guys remember me during the early years of YouTube? Well I have been around since 2006 and in 2007, I did a boss run of Chrono Trigger for SNES. I even did it on the DS years later but I never got around to finishing it. I don’t know why but I simply didn’t. But anyway you wonder why would I do a playthrough of this game? There are reasons for this.
One of the reasons is that the game was released on Steam… and it’s utter crap. It’s garbage because Square-Enix decided to be 100% lazy. It’s getting fixed, yes but come on. Square-Enix can do better than this.
Anyway, I welcome you guys to my playthrough of Chrono Trigger DS. Yes, it’s a playthrough and I’m rusty because it has been a long time since I played it. Cut me some slack. I chose the DS version and wasted $40 for it. Worth it in my opinion because it’s the best version! Plus you have a dream team of individuals that came together made the game. You have Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy), Yuji Horii (creator of Dragon Quest), Akira Toriyama (manga artist and creator of Dragonball), Nobuo Uematsu and Kazuhiko Aoki. Though Yasunori Mitsuda did some of the music, Uematsu took over after Mitsuda fell ill.
We start with introducing ourselves to Crono, Marle and Lucca. If we have to make comparisons with Dragon Ball, a manga made by Toriyama, I’ll be quick about it. Crono is based off of Goku, Marle is based off of Bulma and Lucca is Dr. Arale. Personally Marle is more like Chi Chi while Lucca is Bulma. It makes more sense right? Anyway, we meet with Marle at Leene Square but not before returning her pendant back. We also take the time to train Crono & Marle a bit before the good stuff comes. Not to mention we get a Crono doll. THAT is going to be important much later.
Afterwards we meet up with Lucca who’s ready to show off her teleportation device, along with her dad Taban. Things go well once Crono does it but Marle… let’s just say that it leads to something unexpected. Marle gets lost in time and the show ends. Lucca tries to figure out what’s going on but Crono doesn’t waste time. Taking the pendant, Crono decides to go after her. Lucca and Taban power the machine so that the gate can be open. We head off to some place unknown but what will happen?
We’ll find out in Part 2: Save the Queen.
