Chrono Trigger (SNES) - Part 07: The Magic Kingdom
Start by heading to the Mystic Mountain and make your way to the Laruba Ruins NW of the main area. You'll see Ayla arguing with the Elder about Reptites and Tyrano Lair.
Before that it's time to get some gear upgrades from the Hunting Range. I think the trip was unnecessary, but I went for a top up regardless. I get the items I need then head to the Dactyl Nest straight N.
Keep heading N and after a couple of fights head up and nab the obvious chest, then weave your way S to the SE for a chest and then leave via another climb N of here.
Head N and climb twice then SE for a chest and head further up from here to a new screen with Ayla summoning dinosaurs for us to fly on in the overworld. Tyrano Lair is E from the S side of the village, so heal up and head there.
Head N and through the right Dinosaur skull then free the prisoners and head through. In the next room you'll free Kino after fighting Reptites. Make sure to nab the chest in his cell.
He'll open up the left Dinosaur skull in the first room. Head through and step on the W and then E switches to make the enemies fall through and head out the E side to proceed. You'll have a couple more fights then head back in.
Hit the W switch first and then the E and you'll then fall through to an ambush.
Now head back through the W Dinosaur Skull and through the W door after pressing the W switch.
The next room has hidden teleporters, and you'll have to follow my foot steps closely to get all the treasures and leave (It would be too long to describe).
Outside you'll have a few more battles whilst heading E (you'll noticed a closed gate). Head into the E door and hit the E switch and the one in the back and the closed gate opens so head through it.
You'll see Nizbel, but can get around him to the save point and heal up. He'll fight you when you try to leave. Volt Bite did the most damage for me, and Crono's counters were deaking nice chunks too.
Heal up and make your outside. Head through to another E room with a closed gate in between and hit the switches in order N W E.
Don't fall down like I did or you'll have to head back here from the lower level, redo the puzzle and fight everything on the way (33:00 is when I make it back). In the back room nab the Ether and press the switch to open the closed gate.
Head through it after a couple of fights and you'll see the Reptite ruler, Azala. Nab the chests in the NW and NE before heading out.
Focus on Azala first, she is able to buff Black Tyrano by just being here. Use dual tech healing after Black Tyrano attacks and Black Tyrano should fall after quite a few rounds of punishment.
Upon defeat Azala talks about Lavos, and we learn that Lavos means big fire. A meteor then crashes and you can head through another time portal.
This takes you to the Dark Ages, 12,000BC and you'll be in an Ice Age of sorts, stuck in a cave.
Leave and head E to the Skyway and through the portal to a greener floating island. Head to Enhasa to meet a strange boy and NPCs talking about the "Blackbird" specifically and then through the Landbridge on the Overworld map and N to another Skyway. Head into Kajar.
They seem to suggest that they have superior technology than us, and you'll hear about the Sun Stone and Sun Keep as well as a Moon Stone in the N room. They also talk about the Ocean Palace being behind and the Magicless people being called Earthbound.
Leave and head W to the Blackbird and you'll see a scene with Dalton and then head back to Kajar.
There's a puzzle right at the end involving the books. Head to the NW of the main area and interact with the closed book for a Water animation, then to the SE closed book for a Wind animation and then the one in the centre on the desk for a Fire animation. This will lower a nearby bookcase, and you'll find that the small creature NPC inside is the Black Rock.
Leave and save ready for the next part.
