CiB Game Boy Theater - NBA All-Star Challenge 2 and T2: The Arcade Game (Episode 94)
The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
We're starting to run out of filler sports games, so yay for that! Unlike many sports games we've looked at, NBA All-Star Challenge 2 realized that it was indeed a sports game on the Original Game Boy, and went with the simpler route to gameplay - and it worked out well. It's essentially a bunch of mini-games, perfectly build for a handheld experience. The game runs well, looks good, and is kinda fun. What a start to this episode!
And the, there was T2: The Arcade Game. On the surface, this would be a great choice for a Game Boy game - pick up and play to a... 'T'. The graphics are simply amazing for the time, and the game itself does exactly what it sets out to do. The lack of music is a bummer, but understandable. My biggest complaint is, I mean look at that first level boss. WHAT am I doing wrong? Why are there so many super simple games that end up being so confusing? Thanks for watching!
