CiB Game Boy Theater - Tiny Toons: Babs' Big Break and Legend of the River King (Episode 99)
The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
In episode 99 of Game Boy Theater, we first check out another solid Konami platformer based off of Tiny Toons Adventures. Babs' Big Break is a solid game all-around, and the fact that you have to search for your friends / your friends help you get to the next part of the level is pretty cool. It's not a 'where the heck do I go' kinda game, but it's also not so simple walk-to-the-right that it becomes boring. I highly suggest this game, and the price of the physical cartridge is right for this one!
For Legend of the River King, I do want to apologize in advance - I can tell this game is awesome, but with no experience playing it before, and really only 5-10 minutes to cover a game, there is a LOT missed for a game like this in Game Boy Theater. The fact that it's a mixture of fishing and RPG/fighting elements is incredible. I wish I had more time with the game, and extreme props go to the attention to detail on the Super Game Boy compatibility. This is one of those games that everyone who is into off-the-wall games should check out, although the price of the physical cartridge may not be worth it for most.
In episode 100 of Game Boy Theater, we will be showcasing a full playthrough of a game I hold near and dear - see you then!
