CiB Game Boy Theater - Bonk's Revenge (Episode 100!)
The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
Welcome to episode 100! It's been a long road, playing something along the lines of 180 Game Boy games so far. Most have ranged from pretty bad to pretty fine. Some have been really, really bad. A few have been really, really good.
We're going to enjoy episode 100 with a game that's a) actually good, b) a childhood game I haven't played in years, and c) something you can actually beat with not too much trouble. Bonk's Revenge came out in 1994, and I'm not sure how, but we had this as a game growing up.
I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by Bonk's Revenge. I know the Bonk series is in generally very good, but I usually don't hold intense nostalgia that others do - insomuch that I can freely admit that a game I liked as a kid kinda stinks nowadays (and vice versa). But Bonk's Revenge was very solid growing up, and even more solid now, now that I have a better idea of how bad a lot of the Game Boy library is.
Thank you again for joining us, whether just for this episode, or any of the previous ones - don't worry, we still have plenty of Game Boy games to try out - thanks for watching!
